this is sooooo great!!!! You are a great teacher!
Please tell me the minimum height that a hair light should be.
I want to use my 9 foot tall garage. Is that tall enough?
Thx
Debbi
9 feet is high enough but you won’t have as many options as a 12 or 16 foot ceiling. I know a lot of people who shoot in living rooms and garages. It works.
Thank you
Debbi
Thanks for your excellent work!
You are just beyond awesome.
Thanks for all the videos.
While this lighting setup is well over 4 digits in $price, most of this could be done with a few SB-26s ($120 or so on ebay). Just sayin, the equipment is between the ears.
You smell like a Strobist…!
you better believe it!
and that’s why he photographs for ford modesl and you dont hahaha
I ave seen A LOT of videos and you are by far are the best on youtube! Thanks so much for your videos. Your content is fantastic and you are extremely easy to listen to, great personality.
You really rock! I am taking studio lighting course now and my instructor doesn’t explain half as good as you!!! You make it so easy to understand!!
hey mark !!u the best ever ,,, learned a lot, thanks for these awesome vids!!! i think every aspiring photographer has gotta see these … 10 stars buddy! lol, n keep em comin;0)
u are the best. most educational tutorial vids on utube by far. thanks man.
Nice lessons but not so good photos…
Good job. I referred a photographer to this site. I have taken studio lighting 5 years ago and learned a lot. But I like the way that you break things down. Fine job.
*sniff* sniff* thank you!!! wooohhh learned a lot!
Very informative videos
I agree with one comment–the info is super good stuff….but, the photos are very bland and non inspiring. Still, I’ve learned a LOT from watching the series. We could use a little less hand gesturing, btw. I know, I know, it’s the way things are done in video.
GREAT VIDS!
Simplifying the technique for newbies obviously will have this kind of effect on the photos. The tutorials require your own personal artistic input for real world applications.

EP-O was a great vid.. It allowed me some great images with that setup… Nvr tried it before.. they came out great… Thanks…
wow this is just like an one on one lesson,
learned a lot, thanks for being so generous.
What a generous guy, great advice!
I’m looking to open a home photo studio next year. My main question thus far is do I need something like a Nikon SB600 Speedlight in order to take decent portraits? Or will the lights I’ll be using – two 650 watt lights with barndoors – be enough. Thanks in advance to any responses.
